What did you do when you started at Alan Wong’s Restauarants?
I assisted with the opening of The Pineapple Room at Macy’s Ala Moana, and the opening of the HRC Marketplace on the 4th Floor, and soon became the Operations Managers for both entities.
And today…?
I oversee AWR Holdings, and am involved with the expansion and development projects for Chef Alan in helping to grow the company, and related branding, public relations and marketing activity.
Where is the best place you’ve ever traveled with the AW Ohana, and why?
I have a lot of favorite trips, but the best places I’ve visited with the team were Germany, Switzerland, and China with the Connoisseur’s Cruise. I enjoyed Germany and Switzerland because they were so foreign and new to me, and the countries itself were so clean, beautiful, and it was almost like being in the movie, “Sound of Music.” China was also amazing because as modern as it has become, its history still lives on and the people still preserve, honor, and live their tradition. But, my last trip to Japan with the crew filming “Family Ingredients” was my first experience of what it would feel like to really live there. I loved the quaint home in the countryside, walking among the homesteads and fields of produce, enjoying Hanami season, and dining at the yatai street food vendors amidst the beautiful cherry blossoms. Paaarfect!
What is your all-time favorite quote about life?
“Life is not about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself.” -- George Bernard Shaw
Life changes every day. It is about what you make it. We can choose to be a victim of circumstances, or choose to live life gloriously. If you can find your passion, you have a purpose for living.
