THANK YOU GANG----------THE LAST TIME THIS YEAR WE HAVE THE SENIOR CITIZENS FROM MOILIILI CENTER IN FOR LUNCH THIS YEAR, AND IT WAS A THANKSGIVING CHALLENGE FOR THE KITCHEN
Team Kelly won, and the winning team gets to go to the Orchids Halekulani Sunday Brunch. Thank you for keeping on this tradition of feeding our most needy seniors in our own neighborhood of doing business, the Moilili Senior Citizens Center, for over sixteen years and running now. To remind everyone on "why" it's important to keep this going, it's good for the old to be with the young, and vice versa-------- taking care of our kupuna when our time comes that we should take care, and for sure we will all get there one day and hopefully we would have taught this generation that the older generation is not a forgotten one, and to do the right things----------practicing traditions, especially Thanksgiving-----given that KS doesn’t open for Thanksgiving and really doesn’t work with turkey or any Thanksgiving food items, it’s a good practice, along with doing buffets which normally don’t happen-----turning it into a kitchen challenge, or at the least, a learning experience.
What makes it all come full circle is when the seniors do something for the staff, usually showing them what they teach the seniors at the center. On Sunday, it was the hula class, and Stan belted out a couple of his favorite songs for us as well.
Thank you gang, I always enjoy these,------and I know the majority of those that came on Sunday worked the nite before, came early that day, and worked that night had a long day. However, I know that many had the satisfaction of what they saw and experienced that day. Sunday was about the part of our restaurant company that many people don’t know about, and I am grateful for those that still believe in something that started over sixteen years ago when I read a sad sad story in our newspaper about a senior whose living expenses exceeded her fixed income and was unsure of how she would make it.
