Last week, we had another Farmers Series Dinner at the Kings St restaurant.  We featured Alan Joaquin, Kalei Fernandes, and the FarmRoof concept.  Instead of the usual side by side comparison dish, we had some of FarmRoof's microgreens on a plate for guests eat with their fingers, with a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar I brought back from Tuscany on my last trip.  Then some labneh, yogurt cheese from Waianae, Naked Cow Dairy, micro basil and mint from FarmRoof, mac nuts, and a drizzle of Adopt a Beehive honey from our hive in Hilo. Then, we featured Joe Wilson's Keahole Lobster with Wailea Ag Hearts of Palm done four ways on the plate, followed by Kauai shrimp, pickled, with wasabi potato salad and Mari's Garden Manoa Lettuce sauce. We also served North Shore tilapia on homemade saimin noodles in our own ramen broth, homemade wasabizuke, ja chai relish, and a drizzle of black pepper oil.  Maui Cattle Co beef filet and braised chuck, with Honda Tofu Okara soufflé. For dessert, Michelle made asomething called the journey of the cacao bean, from Hilo and Waialua.

Its always best to visit a farm, I guess the second best is when the farmer is in the restaurant walking around talking to the guests about his product.  A great night overall,  Miya did a fantastic job with the menu and the kitchen, of course, she had a lot of help in the kitchen, but look at all these happy faces
