This is old school, old fashioned to me. Simply, frozen currant tomatoes, taken out of the freezer and you just pop 'em in your mouth---no different than frozen grapes. My test on a sorbet is to ask, 'does it taste like the real fruit?'--------Michelle's pineapple shave ice is simply grated frozen pineapple--------we tried it with banana, mango, and it all works the same way as these frozen currant tomatoes. Michelle ate one and said it reminded her of a dish called 'tomato, tomato, tomato,' in which one variation had these frozen tomatoes swimming in the cold tomato soup for flavor, texture, and to keep the soup colder during a hot summer month. ---- Back in the day when molecular gastronomy was not even a word, these were simple pleasures that today get reinterpreted and done differently to arrive at the same place-------- better yet, if it leaves you with a memory from long ago, of a certain time and moment, of not only eating frozen popsicles, but of frozen fruit chunks, sort of like frozen birdseye strawberries and melons.
